We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
All people will be saved through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, provided we obey the laws that He gave to us. Not only the Ten Commandments, but also other laws that have been given through modern day revelations like the Laws of Tithing, Word of Wisdom, and other commandments that is revealed to us through the Latter Day prophets. Also, the ordinances itself means rituals that we undertake to show Him that we are willing to become His disciplines.
To expand further upon this, laws not only mean God given laws, but laws passed by the people as long as the laws are just and right. By obeying them, we show Him that we are willing to follow Jesus Christ's examples. During Christ's ministries, He did not set Himself above the laws of the Roman Empire. He set the example of following them. In one of the scriptures in the New Testament the leaders of the Jews came to Jesus and asked Him about paying taxes. Jesus responded by asking whose image is on the coins. Since the image of the Caesar is on it, it belongs to the Caesar and so should be paid in taxes. Today, as we look at the coins of this country, we see the images of the previous presidents of the nation. Of whose ownership do the money belong to? Ours or the country we reside in? So we should pay taxes on our incomes to show that we are willing to support our country. In failing to do so we will suffer penalties. Same goes to paying tithings. We pay one tenth of our incomes to show Him our willingness to have faith in Him so that we can be blessed. Otherwise we will suffer penalties the same way.
We also should exercise our faith in Jesus Christ's Atonement and repent of our errors so that the Atonement can take effect. We have to do our part and He will do His part.
I know that by obeying and undergoing the ordinances necessary for our eternal progress we will be able to be forgiven of our sins and receive the greatest gift that God have for us. When we work hard and do our best, we will receive more than those who don't work. There's a cause and effect. We strive to obey God's wishes and we receive the wages according to our works and the desires of our heart. If our works are good and our desires good we will be able to live with God forever. Otherwise we will receive the lesser rewards. I know that when we do everything possible and strive to repent of our sins and mistakes we will be able to look upon our Father in Heaven's face for all eternity when we prove ourselves worthy of the blessings that He wants to bestow upon us.
